Neuroscience Boot Camp Intern

Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis until all positions are filled.

Start and End Dates: July 25, 2014 – August 6, 2014

Hours: 15 – 20 hours throughout the course of the program,  from 7:30a.m.-9:00p.m.

Rate: $9.25/hr

Job Description

Penn CNS Neuroscience Boot Camp is a ten-day educational program for graduates and private sector professionals interested in learning about the basic concepts of neuroscience. As a Neuroscience Boot Camp intern, you will have the opportunity to sit in on some of our courses and network with attending participants while also developing professional skills in administration and events management. All interns will be required to work 15-20 hours during the course of boot camp, and in exchange will be able to attend boot camp courses while not on-duty.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist CNS staff with general office duties and program logistics for the 2014 Neuroscience Boot Camp

  • Assist with filming/audio recording of Boot Camp sessions

  • Clerical duties including upload of course documents to Dropbox site and creation of program participant materials

  • Provide guest lecturers assistance with setup, technology, and other duties as needed

  • Setup and breakdown of catered receptions

  • Hospitality services as needed for boot camp participants: assist in finding information on traveling around Penn campus and Philadelphia, relaying questions to relevant CNS staff when needed

  • Deliver and pick up boot camp project materials in University City and Center City Philadelphia (public transportation fare provided by CNS), make phone calls to local vendors


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Superb customer service skills

  • Strong organizational skills

  • High attention to detail

  • Excellent communication and personal skills

  • Ability to carry up to 30 lbs

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint) and Google Docs survey function

  • Experience with InDesign and iMovie, or willingness to learn
