TILTing Perspectives: Bridging Distances in Technology and Regulation
From Thursday, April 25 2013 -  8:00am
To Friday, April 26 2013 - 5:00pm

TILTing Perspectives is a series of bi-annual international conferences, organized by the Tilburg Institute for Law, Technology and Society (TILT) at Tilburg University in the Netherlands. TILT is a multidisciplinary institute conducting research into the legal and social implications of various emerging technologies, ranging from ICT and biotechnologies to neurotechnologies and robotics, in a variety of domains ranging from health care to justice.

The conference will be held at Tilburg University on 25 and 26 April 2013. It provides a prospective outlook on the near and middle-term future in which technologies are used across distances both in space and in time. How will distance work out in daily life, in work, in friendships, and in care? How will people adjust to the paradoxical distance and closeness created by technologies? Will the distribution of responsibilities and liability change if activities take place at distances in space and time in complex systems and global environments? What are best practices in multi-level governance to address the rise of distant interconnectivity? In this two-day conference we aim to bring together experts from around the world in the fields of law, technology, philosophy, and social sciences, facilitating a dialogue between lawyers, legal scholars, social scientists, technology developers, philosophers, science & technology scholars, robotics and neuroscience scholars, and policy makers.

You can find more details on the theme and subject area of this conference in the call for papers.
